Three students from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the Maldives National University (MNU) graduated with a Bachelor of Marine Science during the university’s April 2025 graduation ceremony. The Bachelor of Marine Science programme at CFOS is designed to address national needs for managing marine resources sustainably, providing students with interdisciplinary knowledge in marine ecosystems, coral reef biology, fisheries biology, and oceanography. Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in marine-related industries, particularly fisheries and tourism, as well as in the public sector and academic research. The graduation of these three students represents a meaningful contribution to building local capacity in marine science, supporting the Maldives’ blue economy and long-term environmental sustainability goals.
