Dean Nadhiya Ahmed, together with nine other MNU staff members, conducted the research project titled “Lost Boys: Understanding the Decline in Male Enrolment in Higher Education in the Maldives.” The study investigates factors contributing to the decline in male participation in higher education and generates evidence to inform policies and strategies that promote equitable access, increased participation, and student success.

The research supports SDG 4: Quality Education by contributing to inclusive and equitable access to higher education, SDG 5: Gender Equality by examining gender-related disparities in educational participation, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by addressing barriers affecting access and engagement, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by supporting evidence-based collaboration among education stakeholders to improve higher education outcomes.
