Students from the Advanced Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism programme at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) participated in a field trip to Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, gaining firsthand exposure to a professional resort environment.
During the visit, students toured the property, explored its facilities and services, and participated in selected operational activities. The experience enabled them to connect classroom learning with practical resort operations and gain a better understanding of professional hospitality standards and contemporary industry practices.
Students also participated in recreational activities, allowing them to experience the resort from a guest perspective. This provided further insight into how resort facilities, services and operational practices contribute to the overall guest experience.
The field trip supported experiential learning and skills development by exposing students to real workplace practices and expectations. It also provided opportunities to observe contemporary approaches and innovation within hospitality operations, while strengthening students’ preparation for the world of work.
Through collaboration with the private sector, such industry exposure helps strengthen connections between academic learning and professional practice while supporting quality education, employability and students’ understanding of the evolving hospitality industry.
