The Senior Management Team of the Maldives National University (MNU) Libraries met with the newly appointed Curriculum Coordinator, Dr. Asiya Ibrahim, to discuss opportunities to further strengthen the integration of library resources into the University’s curriculum development and revision processes.

The meeting highlighted the important role of the MNU Libraries in supporting teaching, learning, research, and curriculum delivery, with discussions focusing on strengthening collaboration between academic units and the Library. Particular attention was given to ensuring the timely identification and availability of core and supplementary reading materials to support newly developed and revised courses.

The Library’s ongoing engagement with academic staff in resource identification, selection, and acquisition was discussed, along with mechanisms for making relevant physical, digital, and electronic resources accessible through the Learning Management System (LMS). These initiatives were recognised as important in enhancing students’ access to academic resources and strengthening the learning experience.

A key area of discussion was the development of a more systematic academic resource audit during curriculum development and revision. The meeting explored how Faculties, Schools, Departments, and the Committee on Courses could work with the Library to identify resource requirements and address any gaps prior to the commencement of courses, thereby strengthening curriculum readiness and resource alignment.

The meeting also emphasised the importance of embedding information literacy and research skills within academic programmes. Strengthening students’ ability to identify, access, evaluate, and effectively use scholarly information was recognised as an important component of supporting academic achievement and research development.

The discussion concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Committee on Courses, academic units, and the MNU Libraries, ensuring that library resources continue to evolve in alignment with curriculum requirements and contribute effectively to the University’s teaching, learning, and research priorities.
