MPSY2024 Students Conduct Pain Management Session for MPL Staff

26 October 2024

Students from MPSY2024 conducted an educational session on Pain Management for staff of MPL on 26 October 2024 as part of their assessment for PSY515 – Clinical and Health Psychology.

The session was designed to increase awareness of pain management strategies and highlight the important relationship between physical and psychological wellbeing. It provided participants with practical information on holistic approaches to managing pain and supporting overall quality of life.

The initiative also gave students an opportunity to apply concepts and skills from Clinical and Health Psychology in a real-world community health education setting. Through planning and facilitating the session, students gained practical experience in communicating health-related psychological knowledge to an audience outside the classroom.

The session was facilitated by Mariyam Ina, Fathimath Faiha, Lubab, and Hawwa Nalrath, under the guidance of Mariyam Ifshan Ahmed, Subject Lecturer.

By connecting academic learning with community-oriented health education, the activity encouraged students to consider the broader role of psychology in promoting health, wellbeing, and quality of life. It also contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), through health awareness and experiential learning.

The session reflects the Faculty of Health Sciences’ commitment to providing students with opportunities to translate academic knowledge into meaningful educational and community engagement activities.
