The EduTech Symposium 2025, organised by the Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE) at The Maldives National University (MNU), successfully brought together educators, researchers, technology professionals, and education enthusiasts to explore the evolving role of technology in education.

The symposium was officially inaugurated with Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, Minister of State for Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, in attendance as the Guest of Honour.

Held on 17–18 September 2025, the inaugural edition of this symposium was centred on the theme “Leveraging Education through the Advancement of Technology.” The two-day event provided a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, research presentations, and collaboration, while highlighting innovative approaches to integrating technology into education.

Contributions

The symposium received 19 EduTech Best Practices presentations, providing practionars with an opportunity to present their work and contribute to discussions on emerging trends and developments in educational technology. The EduTech Best Practices presentations, highlighted diverse perspectives and innovative approaches relevant to the future of teaching and learning.

The symposium featured two international keynote speakers, Dr. Tenku Putri Norishah from Malaysia and Dr. Narimane Hadj-Hamou from the USA, who shared global perspectives and innovative approaches to technology-enabled education, contributing to knowledge exchange among educators and experts from the Maldives and abroad.

Hands-on Workshops

Adding a practical dimension to the symposium, four hands-on workshops were conducted. These workshops provided participants with opportunities to explore educational technologies and engage in practical learning activities, strengthening the connection between theory and application.

The symposium welcomed 60 participants from the Maldives, India, and the UAE, creating a diverse environment for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. The participation of educators and professionals from different contexts contributed to broader discussions on the opportunities and challenges of technology-enabled education.

Beyond the EduTech Best Practices presentations, keynote sessions, and workshops, the symposium also featured EduTech Panel discussion encouraging interactive and interesting dialogue exchange among participants.

The successful first edition of the EduTech Symposium 2025 marks an important milestone in CETE’s efforts to promote innovation, research, professional development, and collaboration in educational technology, while supporting MNU’s commitment to advancing technology-enabled teaching and learning at national and international levels.
