The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS), The Maldives National University (MNU) conducted a two-day research-based training seminar for its academic staff, led by Dr. Abel Polese, Labour Project Coordinator at Tallinn University.
The seminar focused on strengthening the research capabilities and professional capacity of FHTS academic staff, providing practical insights into key areas of research development. The training covered research project development, publication strategies, international project proposals, project management and research funding strategies.
The sessions provided academic staff with opportunities to enhance their understanding of the research process and develop skills relevant to designing, developing and managing research projects. The training also explored approaches to disseminating research through academic publications and developing competitive proposals for international research projects and funding opportunities.
The seminar further provided a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building, enabling academic staff to explore approaches to strengthening research activities and engaging with opportunities for international academic collaboration.
The capacity-building initiative supports FHTS’s efforts to strengthen its research culture and research capacity, while encouraging academic staff to engage in research projects, scholarly publication and international collaboration. Developing these capabilities contributes to the continued advancement of research and knowledge within hospitality and tourism studies.
Through initiatives such as this training seminar, FHTS continues to invest in the professional development and lifelong learning of its academic staff, strengthening the knowledge and skills required to contribute to research, innovation and the wider academic community.
