The Maldives National University (MNU) successfully concluded another session of its Speaker Series on 15 June 2026, welcoming Ms. Juwairiya Saeed, a distinguished leader in finance, governance, and community service, who delivered an inspiring talk titled “Purpose, Passion and Public Impact.”
Drawing on her extensive experience in senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Finance, appointments on major institutional boards, and as Co-Founder of FJS Consulting, Ms. Saeed shared valuable insights into the importance of purpose-driven leadership. She reflected on how professional success can be complemented by meaningful service to society, highlighting her long-standing role as Chairperson of the Cancer Society of Maldives, where she has led national efforts in cancer awareness, prevention, and patient support since 2012.
Throughout the session, Ms. Saeed encouraged students to look beyond personal achievement and consider how their knowledge, skills, and leadership can contribute to addressing the needs of their communities and the nation. Her reflections on resilience, service, and ethical leadership resonated strongly with participants, inspiring them to recognise that meaningful leadership is measured not only by professional accomplishments but also by the positive impact created in the lives of others.
The session formed part of MNU’s ongoing commitment to enriching the student experience by providing opportunities to engage with accomplished professionals whose journeys demonstrate the value of responsible leadership, lifelong learning, and community engagement. The event also reinforced MNU’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being through the promotion of health advocacy and community wellbeing; SDG 4: Quality Education by providing students with learning opportunities beyond the classroom; SDG 5: Gender Equality by celebrating female leadership and achievement; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, recognising the importance of collaboration between higher education, civil society, and national institutions in creating positive social change.
