Six members from Department of Medical Sciences participated in the Maldives National Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Conference 2025, organized by Hulhumalé Hospital to commemorate Infection Prevention and Control Week. The conference brought together healthcare professionals to strengthen knowledge and best practices in infection prevention, patient safety, and quality healthcare.
The programme also featured the launch of the SCALE Project – Strengthening Healthcare Workforce Capacity by Global Learning, a collaborative initiative between the Maldives National University and NHS Northumbria. Participation in the conference provided an opportunity for professional development, knowledge exchange, and collaboration to advance infection prevention and control practices within the Maldives healthcare system.

Participation in the Maldives National Infection Prevention and Control Conference enhanced participants’ knowledge of current infection prevention strategies, patient safety practices, and quality improvement initiatives. The conference strengthened professional competencies and encouraged the application of evidence-based infection prevention measures within healthcare settings.

The launch of the SCALE Project further reinforced collaboration between national and international partners, supporting healthcare workforce development through shared expertise and capacity building. Collectively, these initiatives contribute to strengthening healthcare services, improving patient safety, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and partnership in the health sector.
