Commitment to SDG-Integrated Education

Commitment to SDG-Integrated Education

The Maldives National University (MNU) has a strong institutional commitment to providing meaningful education around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that is relevant and applicable to all students across its faculties. Sustainability principles and SDG-related themes are integrated into the curriculum at multiple levels—through core courses, research projects, fieldwork, and community engagement activities.

Each faculty incorporates SDG-relevant content within its discipline, ensuring that students not only gain technical and professional knowledge but also understand the social, environmental, and ethical implications of their fields. For example, programs in health sciences emphasize public health and well-being; business and economics address sustainable growth and responsible management; tourism programs promote sustainable destination management; and engineering and environmental sciences focus on climate resilience and clean energy solutions.
