First-year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations program visited ADh. Mahibadhoo in May 2024, where they visited the Atoll Council and the Island Council to gain practical experience and additional information about ‘Governance’.
A seminar on “Practical Implementation of Human Rights and Rights-Based Approaches to Development” was conducted for the Master of Social Policy (MASP) 2024 students.
The session focused on integrating human rights principles such as equality, participation, accountability, and non-discrimination into social policy and development practice.

The closing ceremony of the international workshop 2024: “Professional Development Workshop on Library and Information Services”, which was held in Indonesia to enhance the professional capabilities of Maldivian librarians, took place at the Maldives National University
A seminar titled “Cultural Seminar for Foreign Diplomats” was organized by students of the Master of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs program. The seminar will take on an interactive tour of the invitees explaining Maldives culture, tradition, heritage and way of life. It will also cover Maldives nationalism and political history including the journey towards democracy.
The Maldives National University hosted its first Ocean Governance Symposium on 1 March 2023, bringing together government officials, academics, policy experts, and practitioners to discuss national and regional challenges affecting the marine environment. The symposium highlighted key issues such as ocean security, sustainable resource management, climate change impacts, and gaps in the existing legal and policy framework. The event strengthened national commitment toward improving ocean governance and produced an outcome document outlining policy recommendations for the Government.
