Tourism Jubilee Walk - Celebrating 50 Years Tourism in the Maldives

The Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdullah Mausoom and Vice Chancellor of MNU Dr. Mohamed Shareef kicked off the much anticipated #TourismJubileeWalk at 4pm on 19th November 2022. The walk was organized by MNU-FHTS in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism.
The aim of the event was to bring together tourism academics and industry professionals to celebrate 50 golden years of Maldives tourism! There was an estimated 300+ participants from academia and industry making this the biggest tourism walk in the history of Maldives.

"Fathuruvehin" panel discussion (BITM students' event)

“Fathuruvehin” : A panel discussion on the topic “Leveraging Digital Storytelling to Promote Unique Island Experiences in Guest Houses.” The engaging panel discussion was attended by students and industry experts, who shared their valuable insights on the topic.

Hotel Asia Exhibition & International Culinary Challenge 2024

Our young chefs, Ms. Aishath Rana Shareef, Ms. Maazina Mohamed, Mr. Moosa Rashwan Naeem, Mr. Mohamed Haaish Saagib and Ms.Fathmath Zumya participated in the Hotel Asia Exhibition & International Culinary Challenge 2024, where they showcased excellent culinary skills.
They have been honing their skills under the mentorship of our lecturer, Ms. Aishath Sobaha Hussain.

Career guidance session for students of Jalaluddin School, H.Dh. Atoll Education Centre, and Afeefuddin School, Kulhudufushi City

A career guidance session was conducted by our senior lecturer, Ms. Zuneena Habeeb, and our alumna, Ms. Aishath Saaidha Hanmaam, for students of Jalaluddin School, H.Dh. Atoll Education Centre, and Afeefuddin School, Kulhudufushi City.
The session focused on career opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry and higher educational opportunities. Furthermore, our alumna shared her inspirational educational journey in our faculty, which provided valuable insights to the students.

Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives – Global Culinary Challenge and Exhibition 2024

Our students participated in the Young Chef category of the FHAM – Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives – Global Culinary Challenge and Exhibition.
The students who showcased their culinary skills were Ms. Fathimath Rafa Ilyas, Ms. Fathmath Zumya, Mr. Moosa Rashwan Naeem, and Mr. Ibrahim Farish Ahmed. They were mentored by our Lecturer,Ms. Zulaikha Reesha Rashaad, and Senior Culinary Instructor,Ms. Aminath Shaanee.

Global Hospitality Exposure Trips

Our students and faculty gained invaluable industry insight through several recent global exposure trips, connecting academic theory with world-class practice. In 2025, a highlight included an insightful visit to JW Marriott Absheron Baku, Azerbaijan, where the General Manager and Executive Team offered a comprehensive tour showcasing their passionate service culture and operations. In 2023, students enjoyed an enlightening sightseeing tour at the Fairmont The Palm Dubai. The 2024 FHTS Exposure Trip to Bangkok, Thailand, featured a presentation and tour at the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM) (in association with Les Roches), alongside tours of Minor Group establishments like Anantara Riverside and Avani Bangkok. These experiences provided crucial, real-world exposure for the next generation of hospitality professionals.
