Biography

Sizna Mohamed is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing, Maldives National University (MNU), Malé, Maldives, where she serves in the Department of Clinical Studies. She has extensive experience in nursing education, clinical practice, and curriculum development, with a career spanning more than two decades in the health sector.Her clinical experience provided a strong foundation for her transition into academia. Her academic work focuses on nursing education, clinical nursing practice, mental health nursing, and professional development of nurses. She has contributed to several national projects aimed at strengthening nursing education and healthcare capacity in the Maldives. Sizna has experience in curriculum development and has been actively involved in revising and teaching nursing courses for undergraduate students. She also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in their evidence-based final projects.

Other projects

  • Lead Consultant, WHO Project (2024): Led the development of the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council licensing examinations for nursing and midwifery registration, including stakeholder consultation and the development and review of multiple-choice questions 
  • Contributed to the development of the National Protocol on Nursing Assessment (ADB Project, 2025), including protocol drafting and the delivery of online dissemination sessions for relevant stakeholders. 
  • Lead Consultant for an ADB Project (2025): Developed training materials and facilitated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops on breaking bad news and therapeutic communication, including stakeholder engagement, resource development, and pilot delivery of training sessions. 
  • Revised the psychiatric nursing course outline, developed teaching materials, and taught nursing subjects to undergraduate students from 2017 to 2024.
  • Supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in their evidence-based final project.
