The Maldives National University in collaboration with Yunnan Open University has officially launched the Maldives Chinese Language Centre. Guest of honor, Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Kong Xianhua highlighted the importance of language and education in building strong ties between the two countries. Ambassador Kong emphasized that the center would enhance opportunities for Maldivian students to learn Chinese and serve as a bridge to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
On behalf of Yunnan Open University, Vice President Prof. Xiong Lianglin and Dean Mr. Song Yiming attended the official opening ceremony of Chinese Language Centre at MNU. As part of the ceremony, Yunnan Open University generously donated 63,000 yuan worth of educational equipment to the Maldives National University, symbolizing China’s continued commitment to support Maldives education and development.
In their remarks, Professor Xiong and Dean Song expressed great optimism for the future of Maldives-China relations, highlighting the role of this centre in expanding cultural exchanges, enhancing educational cooperation, and providing opportunities for Maldivian students to closely experience Chinese language and culture.
The establishment of the Maldives Chinese Language Centre represents a new chapter in educational cooperation between the Maldives and China, offering valuable opportunities to broaden students’ skills, knowledge, and international perspective.
