The Maldives National University (MNU) Triumphs as Indian Ocean’s Best Culinary Training Institution at World Culinary Awards 2024

The Maldives National University, The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) has won the Indian Ocean’s Best Culinary Training Institution at the prestigious World Culinary Awards 2024. This remarkable achievement marks the third time MNU has earned this title, having previously won in 2021 and 2023. The faculty has been nominated for this honor for three consecutive years, showcasing its consistent excellence in culinary education. This year MNU competed against one local institution and three prominent culinary schools from Mauritius.

The awarding ceremony took place at Summersalt Jumeirah Al Naseem in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The award was received by Dean, Zeenath Solih and Lecturer, Aishath Shudfa Waheed, on behalf of the MNU/FHTS.

The faculty’s consistent recognition on the international stage is largely due to its active participation in global culinary competitions. FHTS’s students recently secured a spot in the top 20 out of 60 countries at the Young Chef Olympiad 2024, and successfully competed in the Plate Trophy round, further proving its reputation as a leading culinary institution.

MNU extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted for them and supported their journey to this remarkable achievement. Our success continues to inspire future culinary professionals and elevate the standards of hospitality education across the Indian Ocean region and globally.
