CETE conducted orientation sessions on e-facilitation room and e-studio open to all academic staff of the university. The purpose of the sessions, which took place from March 13 to 15, was to introduce staff to the two facilities which are available to all faculties of the university and explain the services developed at these facilities and detail the procedures to follow. The two facilities were established as part of the AMED project to strengthen e-learning at MNU under the auspices of CETE. The university has also established additional facilities after the project to further develop sustainable e-facilitation rooms that enable quality facilities with state-of-the-art technology and innovative approaches to teaching through e-learning.
The e-facilitation room established at the 4th floor of FHTS building (previously used as Polycom room) has been developed to conduct interactive hybrid classes and trainings. The services provided in this room include automated capture of the lecturer’s activities in the classroom and easy delivery of the activities to the virtual students, interactive learning activities between face-to-face and virtual students, instant streaming of live classes, and recording and archiving of classes for later viewing. Similar rooms have been established on other campuses of the university. E-Studio established in 6th floor of FHTS building is equipped for recording and editing video lectures, recording, editing and compiling audio narration and streaming podcasts and webinars. During the orientation sessions, participants had the opportunity to experience the equipment and services available at the two locations. 18 staff from different faculties participated in 3 sessions. The sessions were facilitated by Instructional Designer, Ibrahim Adam. Our hope is that faculties will collaborate with CETE to make full use of these facilities to further develop learning and teaching.
