    Biography

    Hussain Hameed Moosa** is an experienced maritime professional and academic currently serving as an Assistant Maritime Instructor at the Faculty of Maritime Studies, The Maldives National University (MNU). His teaching career at the institution began as a part-time lecturer in 2000 while on leave from sea service, transitioning into a full-time academic role in 2015.

    He completed his formal maritime qualifications at the L.B.S. College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research in Mumbai, India, earning his 2nd Mate (F.G.) certificate, alongside specialized training in public financing and audit from the Audit and Accounts Training Institute in Lahore, Pakistan.

    With nearly 12 years of active sea service on worldwide trade routes—serving as Chief Officer, 2nd Officer, and 3rd Officer across international shipping fleets—his operational expertise spans coastal navigation, GMDSS, marine safety, radar navigation, and tanker operations.

    A key contributor to maritime education in the Maldives, his notable achievements include writing the *Coastal Navigation* textbook published for MNU, completing advanced simulator instructor training at Poseidon of Norway, and leading several STCW-certified safety and navigational training modules for aspiring seafarers.
