World Maritime Day 2025 was observed on 25 September 2025 through a public engagement activity held near the Vilimale’ Ferry Terminal. The Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) engaged with members of the public to raise awareness on this year’s global theme, “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity.” The activity focused on highlighting the importance of ocean stewardship, sustainable maritime practices, and the critical role of the maritime sector in the Maldives. Through interactive discussions and outreach efforts, participants were encouraged to understand their shared responsibility in protecting marine environments and promoting sustainable use of ocean resources. The event also helped strengthen public awareness of maritime education and CMS’s role in developing skilled professionals for the sector. Special appreciation was extended to Mohamed Musthaq for his active participation and contribution to the event’s success. The outreach strengthened community engagement and reinforced CMS’s commitment to maritime awareness and sustainability.
