Senior Lecturer Explores Digital Distraction and Its Impact on Gen Z Learners

27 May 2025 — Senior Lecturer Dr. Aminath Waseela facilitated an insightful Lunchtime Talk session titled “Generation Distracted? Exploring the Social and Educational Implications of Digital Distraction in Gen Z,” organised by the Research Development Office at The Maldives National University (MNU).

The session explored the growing influence of technology and digital habits on contemporary learning environments, with particular attention to student concentration, learning experiences, and social behaviours among Generation Z.

The interactive seminar brought together academic staff and researchers to discuss the challenges posed by digital distractions and their implications for teaching and learning. Participants also explored practical strategies for educators to navigate technology-related distractions while fostering meaningful engagement and focused learning in contemporary classrooms.

The session provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and professional dialogue on the evolving relationship between technology and education.
