Senior Lecturer Qari Mohamed Riyaz conducted an information session titled “How Can We Learn the Knowledge of the Quran? What Are the Common Mistakes That Contradict Tajweed in Reciting the Holy Quran?” for students of Huravee School on 10 May 2025.
The session aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the Holy Quran by introducing effective approaches to learning its teachings and improving their recitation through the correct application of Tajweed. Students were guided in identifying common recitation errors, improving pronunciation and articulation, and developing greater confidence in reading the Quran accurately.
The session also emphasised important values including self-discipline, respect, ethical conduct, responsibility, and lifelong learning. Through practical guidance, students were encouraged to develop positive learning habits and deepen their engagement with Quranic knowledge.
The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by providing meaningful learning opportunities that strengthen students’ knowledge, literacy, and lifelong learning skills. The session supported students in developing accurate and confident Quranic reading through structured learning.
It also supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by providing students with access to educational and personal development opportunities, contributing to more equitable access to learning within the school community.
The programme aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting ethical values, respect, self-discipline, social responsibility, and peaceful coexistence through values-based religious education.
Furthermore, the initiative contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening engagement between higher education and school communities and facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise for students’ educational and personal development.
Through this initiative, Qari Mohamed Riyaz contributed to Quranic literacy, accurate Tajweed recitation, ethical development, and lifelong learning, supporting quality education and the broader Sustainable Development Goals.
