MNU has achieved QAA’s IQR global accreditation in September 2023 . This accreditation has been achieved following a rigorous external review process that benchmarked MNU’s services with the standards specified in Part 1 of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The Maldives National University is a full international member of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) of MNU has achieved EHL’s Associate membership status. The membership application involved various levels of reporting, evidence checking, site-visits that ensured FHTS’s services were as per EHL’s core values.

With this membership the Bachelor of International Hospitality Management (BIHM) course of FHTS becomes an acceptable qualification within the EHL Certification Scheme.

Since 2019, MNU has been part of this world-wide association of over 3000 organizations engaged in quality assurance in higher education. Being a member of this network of QA agencies and other tertiary institutions MNU has access to a wide range of trainings, conferences and for a to discuss, explore and learn about contemporary practices of both internal and external QA in higher education.

The Maldives National University is an institutional member of the Asia Pacific Quality Network. As a member of this prestigious network on Higher Education Quality Assurance MNU is part of the largest and the most influential international organization on higher education in this region

The Maldives National University has been a member of the prestigious Association- Associate of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), since 2024. 

The ACU is the world’s first and oldest international university network, established in 1913 to provide a forum for universities to share information, knowledge, and ideas. 

Through this membership, MNU will be able to represent our staff, students, and voice across universities in the Commonwealth, and represent MNU in the global higher education policy arena. 

The International Association of Universities (IAU) is a global network of higher education institutions and organizations dedicated to promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and academic excellence worldwide.

The Maldives National University (MNU) is now a member of this network and stands to gain access to a global HEI networking, research partnerships, and policy discussions on key higher education issues. Through membership MNU now has access to opportunities for capacity building, professional development, and participation in international projects. Additionally, MNU now has access to IAU’s resources, publications, and advocacy efforts, enhancing its global visibility and alignment with international academic standards. For MNU, being part of IAU also reflects a commitment to quality education, innovation, and sustainable development in higher education.
