Biography

Uza. Rifshana Hassan (LLB, LLM) is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law (FSL), Maldives National University (MNU), with professional and research interests in law, governance, and anti-corruption enforcement in the Maldives. She is also a practicing lawyer and a registered notary with over 14 years of legal experience, combining active legal practice with her academic responsibilities.

Rooted in a strong academic foundation from Muhyiddin School, Uza. Rifshana Hassan completed her higher secondary education at Villa International High School before pursuing a career in law. She earned her Bachelor of Shari’ah and Law with Honours (LLB) and subsequently completed a Master of Laws (LLM) at the Maldives National University in 2017. Her LLM studies covered advanced areas of law, including Medical Law and Negligence, Cyber Law, Advanced Criminal Law, Media Law, Banking Law, Taxation Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Employment Law, reflecting a broad and rigorous foundation in both public and private law.

Prior to joining MNU, Uza. Rifshana Hassan served as a Part-time Lecturer at the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) in 2017, gaining valuable teaching and academic experience. She joined MNU’s Faculty of Shari’ah and Law as a Lecturer in 2024, where she contributes to teaching, academic research, and the development of legal education. She remains committed to continuous learning and academic scholarship through professional training, research presentations, and participation in academic conferences, continually strengthening her expertise in law, research, and professional practice
