Biography

Aminath Nahooda is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing, Maldives National University, with over two decades of experience in nursing and midwifery education, clinical practice, academic leadership, and curriculum development. She currently serves on the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the Maldives (2025 to date), reflecting her ongoing contribution to national leadership in the nursing and midwifery profession. Her professional background spans both higher education and clinical service, with prior experience in diverse care settings at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, including labour room, emergency care, medical and surgical wards, and nursing shift coordination.

In her academic role, Aminath Nahooda is committed to advancing excellence in nursing and midwifery education through student-centered teaching, research supervision, course/batch coordination, and innovation in curriculum design. She has played a key role in the development and strengthening of nursing and midwifery programmes, including leadership in midwifery education. Her academic and professional interests include midwifery education, maternal and newborn health, evidence-based practice, research capacity building, and quality improvement in healthcare education and practice. Through her teaching, leadership, and scholarly engagement, she continues to contribute to the development of a competent and compassionate nursing and midwifery workforce in the Maldives.
