Hussain Abdulla Saeed is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Shariah and Law at the Maldives National University (MNU). He possesses extensive experience in higher education, academic leadership, and institutional administration, with a professional career spanning more than two decades in teaching, curriculum development, and judicial and educational service in the Maldives.
Since joining MNU in 2013, he has been actively engaged in the teaching of Shariah and Islamic Studies, with a particular focus on Islamic jurisprudence and related disciplines. He has made substantive contributions to curriculum development, academic coordination, and the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning quality within the faculty.
He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Shariah, a position he has held since 2019, providing strategic academic and administrative leadership in programmed planning, curriculum development, quality assurance, and departmental governance. In June 2024, he was promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer in recognition of his sustained academic contribution, leadership, and service to the University over an extended period.
Prior to his appointment at MNU, he served as Assistant Registrar at the Family Court of the Maldives (2010–2013), where he was engaged in judicial administration and acquired practical experience in the application of Shariah principles within family law proceedings.
His professional contributions include active involvement in national curriculum development initiatives. He contributed to the Islamic Education Textbook Development (Grades 9–12), specifically in the development and authorship of Fiqh content for student textbooks and teacher guides under the Maldives National Curriculum (2017–2019). He also contributed to the Qur’anic Studies Textbook Development (Grades 11–12), particularly in the development and authorship of the Qur’an and Science unit for student textbooks and teacher guides.
