Biography

Sh. Ali Zaid is an experienced Senior Lecturer and academic coordinator specializing in Shariah and Islamic law. Throughout his career in higher education, he has built a strong reputation for curriculum development, designing comprehensive instructional frameworks, and leading institutional academic reviews. His work focuses on bridging classical legal history with contemporary educational models, ensuring university students receive a structured, deeply analytical understanding of Islamic jurisprudence.

His extensive academic foundation began in the Maldives, where he completed his foundational Arabic-medium schooling and earned his Shahada Sanaviyya from Mauhadh-uh Dhiraasaathul Islamiyyah in 2005. To specialize further in traditional jurisprudence, he traveled to Saudi Arabia to attend the prestigious Islamic University of Madinah, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Shariah Islamiyah in 2012. This intensive international training provided him with deep insights into classical legal systems, comparative law, and legal history.

Upon returning to the Maldives, he finalized his advanced training by earning a Master of Arts in Sharia from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at The Maldives National University in 2015. Today, he combines this rigorous legal background with active classroom leadership, managing academic tracks and mentoring the next generation of scholars. His career reflects a continuous commitment to elevating academic standards and advancing Islamic higher education.
