Mariyam Hudha is a Lecturer at the School of Nursing, The Maldives National University, with extensive clinical and academic experience in nursing practice and education. She has worked in various healthcare settings including the Emergency Room, Outpatient Department, and private ward at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, as well as in Health centres in N. Noonu Velidhoo and B. Thulhaadhoo, providing comprehensive patient care across diverse clinical environments.
Before joining academia, she gained valuable clinical experience in both hospital and community healthcare settings, which has strongly influenced her teaching philosophy. Her clinical background enables her to bridge the gap between theory and practice by integrating real-life clinical experiences into nursing education.
As a nursing educator, Hudha is committed to developing competent, compassionate, and reflective nursing professionals. Her teaching focuses on strengthening communication skills, therapeutic communication, clinical reasoning, and student-centered learning approaches that enhance students’ confidence and competence in clinical practice.
Her research interests include nursing education, innovative teaching strategies, therapeutic communication, telehealth and telenursing, and public health issues related to health behaviour and health promotion. She is particularly interested in exploring technology-supported learning and healthcare delivery methods that can enhance nursing education and improve patient care within the Maldivian healthcare context.
