Khadija Abdulrahman Hussein

Biography

Ms. Khadija Abdulrahman Hussein has been serving as an Assistant lecturer (Pharmacy) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University (MNU) since 2020.

She graduated from Manipal University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. She further enhanced her academic qualifications by completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education in 2023 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from the Maldives National University.

She has also had the experience of working as a Pharmacist in Kenya, India and the Maldives. She is registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya, the Karnataka State Pharmacy Council, and the Maldives Allied Health Council. She is passionate about working with patients and assisting them in adhering to their regimens to maximize the therapeutic outcome of their medication in order to prevent the progression of diseases.

Teaching Interests

  1. Physiology, Pharmaceutical sciences and Microbiology.
  2. Clinical practice with emphasis on pharmacotherapy, clinical reasoning, and patient-centered care.
  3. Innovative teaching and learning strategies in pharmacy education, including problem-based learning (PBL), case-based learning, and simulation-based learning.
  4. Development of students’ clinical communication skills and application of knowledge in real-
    world healthcare settings.

Research Work / Grants / Projects

  • SCALE project – by NHS-Northumbria in collaboration with MNU focusing on strengthening healthcare workforce capacity through global learning in areas of HAI and AMR Surveillance capacity.
