Dr. Fathimath Shougee holds a PhD in Social Science from the University of Malaya (2019–2024), an MPhil in Development Studies from Massey University, and a BEd in Social Science from the University of Newcastle. Her academic credentials also include a Postgraduate Diploma in Research Studies from Villa College.

Her research interests encompass social science education, sustainability education, lifelong learning, and career development, with a particular emphasis on the intersections among education, sustainability, and human development. She has served as a principal and co-researcher on several projects, including the Maldives National University (MNU) grand project “ROBOGOGY” (2025–2026), Philosophical Alignment/Misalignment between Teachers and Educational Policy Makers (2017-2018), and Mapping Early Childhood Care and Education Services in the Maldives, commissioned by UNICEF, Maldives (2025-2026).

As an educator, she has supervised over thirty Master’s projects and currently mentors PhD research. Her research is published in journals such as the Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education and the International Journal of Social Science and Educational Research Studies, focusing on the career-making experiences of Maldivian youth.
