Dr. Anoop Menachery, PhD

Assistant Professor (Department of Engineering)

Biography

Dr. Anoop Menachery is currently an Assistant Professor at The Maldives National University. He was previously a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Engineering and Transport, Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, Malta. Prior to that, he was employed as a Senior Research Scientist at New York University Abu Dhabi. His expertise lies in the development of micro technologies for biological studies, and his current interests are in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for physical systems.

Dr. Menachery previously worked as a Senior Engineer and Medical Scientist at Precision for Medicine (formerly ApoCell) in Germany and the USA, respectively, where he was involved in the development, validation, and commercialization of a product to isolate circulating tumor cells from patient blood. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the bioelectronics group at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh in the UK. His postdoctoral research extensively utilized microfabrication technologies for the detection and isolation of stem cells and parasites.
