Dr. Aishath Niyaf is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University. She is a dedicated public health and nutrition professional whose career has been shaped by a commitment to improving health outcomes through education, research, and community engagement.
Her academic journey expanded internationally with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science) from Charles Sturt University, Australia. She later pursued a Master of Public Health with a focus on Nutrition at The University of Queensland, Brisbane. She completed her Ph.D. in Public Health from Management and Science University, Malaysia.
Since 2012, Dr. Niyaf has been contributing to the education sector through her work in the Department of Public Health at The Maldives National University. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the PhD in Public Health programme and teaches across the Master of Public Health, Diploma, and Bachelor of Primary Health Care programmes. She is actively engaged in research, student supervision, curriculum evaluation, and university representation on various faculty and national committees.
Prior to joining academia, she worked with the Centre for Community Health and Disease Control, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, contributing to public health, laboratory services, and development initiatives.
