Batool Zahoor Qazi is a Senior Lecturer at the Maldives National University, where she teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. At the LL.B. level, her teaching includes Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, and International Law. She also delivers postgraduate courses such as Advanced Criminal Law Issues, Medical Law and Negligence, and Research Methods.
She is an active researcher with a strong focus on the Maldivian criminal justice system. Her scholarly work spans criminal law, international law, legal education, and law and technology. She has presented her research at several international conferences and has published on topics including organised crime in the Maldives, the Maldives Penal Code, digital evidence admissibility, artificial intelligence in legal education, and online harms.
In 2025, she was awarded a competitive research grant as Principal Investigator for the project titled “Investigation on the Use and Adoption of Generative AI in Legal Education in the Maldives.” She has also contributed to national and international research initiatives, including studies on the disengagement of Maldivian youth and the deprivation of liberty of children in South Asia.
Her research interests include criminal law, international criminal law, human rights, legal education, and the intersection of law and technology.
