The Maldives National University Library conducted an Effective Database Searching Session to help students of the Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Studies develop the skills needed to search academic databases efficiently and retrieve relevant scholarly information for their studies and research.

The two-hour session was held from 08:10 am to 10:10 pm and attended by 20 students from the Advanced Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism

The session introduced practical search techniques, including developing effective keywords, using Boolean operators, phrase searching, truncation, and applying filters to refine search results. Participants also learned how to identify relevant academic articles, access full-text resources, and improve the accuracy and effectiveness of their searches.

The session included practical demonstrations and hands-on search exercises, enabling participants to apply the techniques learned and confidently use library databases for their academic assignments and research.

The session supported quality education and lifelong learning by helping students produce credible academic work. These skills also prepare students for ethical professional practice and encourage academic integrity. By sharing educational resources and research skills with students, the Library contributed to the exchange of knowledge that supports partnerships for the goals.
