The Maldives National University (MNU) Library conducted a Database Searching Session for students from the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), Certificate 4 in Foundation Studies (English), with 8 students attending the session.
The session focused on developing students’ skills in effectively searching academic databases and locating relevant scholarly information to support their academic studies and research.
Participants were introduced to practical database searching techniques, including developing effective keywords, refining search results, and identifying relevant academic resources. The session also provided guidance on accessing scholarly information through the University’s library databases and electronic resources.
Through practical guidance and search exercises, students had the opportunity to apply the techniques introduced and build confidence in conducting effective academic searches.
The session aimed to strengthen students’ information literacy and research skills and support them in making effective use of academic resources for their assignments and studies.
MNU Library continues to conduct information literacy sessions to equip students with essential skills for finding, evaluating, and using scholarly information effectively.
The session supported quality education and lifelong learning by helping students produce credible academic work. These skills also prepare students for ethical professional practice and encourage academic integrity. By sharing educational resources and research skills wth students, the library contributed to the exchange of knowledge that supports partnerships for the goals.
