Maldives Association of Islamic Psychology Established to Advance the Field

18 September 2025

The Maldives Association of Islamic Psychology was founded and officially registered on 18 September 2025, marking an important step towards strengthening professional networking, knowledge sharing and development in the field of Islamic psychology in the Maldives.

Ibrahim Ismail, a staff member of the Faculty of Health Sciences, was among the co-founders of the association and was elected as its Chairperson. Through his involvement in establishing and registering the organisation, he contributed to creating a professional platform that can support individuals interested in Islamic psychology through opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking and professional development.

The establishment of the association provides a dedicated platform for bringing together individuals with an interest in Islamic psychology and supporting the continued development and recognition of the field within the Maldivian context. It also creates opportunities for members to engage in professional and academic activities and to develop connections with others working or studying in related areas.

The initiative further reflects the engagement of MNU staff in professional and community initiatives beyond the university, contributing expertise to the development of a specialised field while creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The establishment of the association contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by supporting lifelong learning, professional development and knowledge sharing, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through professional networking and collaboration within the field of Islamic psychology.
