The Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), held the Ilmy Fovahi Seminar on 28 August 2025. Under the theme “One Team, Many Voices,” 75 participants explored how students from different disciplines can learn together and prepare for collaborative health practice.
Faculty, students and academic leaders discussed curriculum alignment, assessment, faculty development, case-based learning and possible interfaculty projects. Participants valued the dialogue and called for more practical joint learning opportunities. The seminar supported planning for future pilot activities; it did not itself establish a completed interprofessional programme.
Learning across disciplines can help future professionals understand one another’s roles and work together around patients’ needs.
The seminar supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through development of interprofessional teaching, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through preparation for collaborative health practice, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cooperation across academic disciplines.
