Welcome to The Maldives National University (MNU)!

General Orientation Week marks the beginning of your university journey. It is designed to help you settle into university life, understand academic expectations, connect with your faculty and fellow students, and discover the services, resources, and opportunities available to support your success.

Through university-wide and faculty or campus specific sessions, you will learn about effective study practices, library and research services, student support, university systems, academic responsibilities, and opportunities to participate in university life. Orientation also gives you the opportunity to meet the people and support teams who will guide you throughout your studies.

Whether you are joining MNU for the first time or beginning a new stage of your education, orientation is your first step towards becoming an informed, connected, and active member of the MNU community.

Your General Orientation Schedule

Start your MNU journey prepared and informed. Explore the General Orientation Week schedule below to find the dates, times, venues, and sessions arranged for your faculty, school, or campus.

The programme includes university-wide sessions introducing students to key services, learning resources, and opportunities, followed by faculty- and campus-specific activities to help you become familiar with your academic environment.

Before attending, please check your schedule carefully for your session dates, starting times, venues, and any instructions provided by your faculty or campus. Students studying at regional campuses should refer to the schedule and communication issued by their respective campus.

We encourage all new students to participate in the relevant orientation sessions to make the most of the information, guidance, and opportunities available at MNU.

International Student Orientation and Support

MNU welcomes international students to a diverse university community and recognises that studying in a new country involves more than beginning an academic programme. International Student Support helps new students settle into university life, understand their responsibilities, adapt to the local culture, and build meaningful connections within the MNU community.

Support includes:

  • International Student Orientation: Orientation sessions for all newly enrolled international students, introducing them to MNU, university services, academic expectations, and essential information for living and studying in the Maldives.
  • Living Arrangements and Practical Guidance: Assistance and guidance on accommodation, settling into the local environment, and accessing relevant university support.
  • Cultural Adaptation and Integration: Opportunities to understand Maldivian culture, connect with fellow students, and participate in university activities.
  • International Student Gatherings: Semesterly gatherings, including Sagaafee Sai – International Tea, to encourage cultural exchange, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
  • Ongoing Communication and Check-ins: Regular communication and follow-up to understand students’ needs, address concerns, and connect them with appropriate support throughout their studies.

At MNU, international students are part of our university community. We aim to make their transition smoother, strengthen their sense of belonging, and help them make the most of their academic and personal experiences in the Maldives.
