Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting (PAFF) – Practical Session

The Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting (PAFF) final exercise was conducted on 23 November 2024 mainly for students who have completed their Certificate 4 in Marine Operations (C4MO) and other students of STCW Operational Level.

The exercise is carried out in accordance with STCW Regulation VI/3, Section A-VI/3, Table A-VI/3 and IMO Model course 2.03.

Following are the Learning outcomes of the exercise:

Fire-fighting procedures at sea and in port, with particular emphasis on organization, tactics and command
Use of water for fire-extinguishing,
Communication and coordination during fire-fighting operations
Ventilation control, including smoke extraction
Preparation of contingency plans
Composition and allocation of personnel to fire parties
Strategies and tactics for control of fires in various parts of the ship
Entering hot zone with Firefighter’s outfit and SCBA, fight and extinguish fires
