As part of the Australia Awards Fellowships, participants undertook a comprehensive international study programme in Australia, engaging in interactive workshops hosted at the Flinders University. These sessions explored key themes such as health professions education principles, ICT and AI in learning, self regulated learning, goal setting and reflection, learning theories, curriculum design, and leading educational change. The programme strengthened participants’ knowledge of contemporary teaching practices, digital innovations, and leadership strategies in health professions education.
In addition to the workshops, participants attended the Australia and New Zealand Association for Health Professions Education (ANZAHPE) Conference in Perth, Western Australia. The conference featured masterclasses, symposia, PeArLS sessions, and oral and poster presentations, providing exposure to cutting edge research, innovative teaching approaches, and emerging trends in the field. It also offered valuable opportunities for international networking, knowledge exchange, and professional development among educators and researchers.

The study tour enhanced participants’ understanding of contemporary health professions education through international exposure and engagement with experienced educators and clinicians. It strengthened teaching capacity and encouraged the use of innovative, evidence-based approaches, contributing to improved training quality.

Exposure to diverse healthcare systems, including rural and remote service models, broadened perspectives on equitable healthcare delivery and informed future curriculum development. The programme also built professional networks and partnerships with international institutions, supporting ongoing academic exchange, capacity building, and collaborative initiatives for health professions education in the Maldives.
