A University Research Grant was awarded to support the research project, “Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency in Females Aged 18–35 Years in Malé, Maldives (URG-2024-C1-L-AS16).” The study aims to determine the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among young adult females and identify factors associated with this nutritional deficiency. The findings will provide valuable evidence to inform public health initiatives, preventive strategies, and health education programmes aimed at improving nutritional health among women in the Maldives.
The outcomes of this project will provide evidence to guide national health policies, strengthen preventive strategies, and empower women through improved nutritional awareness. Beyond the Maldives, the findings will add to global research on vitamin D deficiency, particularly in tropical island nations where assumptions about sun exposure may mask underlying health risks.
