The Maldives National University (MNU) marked its 53rd Anniversary with a day of commemorative, recreational and sporting activities, bringing students and staff together to celebrate the University’s milestone and strengthen community spirit.

The celebrations commenced at Henveiru Stadium with the gathering of MNU students and staff, followed by the launch of the “MNU with You” First Response Support Line (1558). The initiative aims to strengthen support and accessibility to assistance for members of the MNU community. The launch was followed by opening remarks by Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam.

The anniversary programme continued with the 53rd Anniversary Cake-Cutting Ceremony and photo session, followed by a range of recreational activities. Students and staff actively participated in Women’s Futsal, Thimmugoali, Balloon Buddy, the Lemon Race, Faigathalha, the Goani Race, the Obstacle Race and Vaadhemum, creating a lively atmosphere of teamwork, interaction and friendly competition.

The celebrations will continue this evening at Galolhu National Stadium of the Maldives with a Men’s Football match between MNU Staff and Students/Alumni. The match will be inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, bringing students, staff and alumni together for an evening of friendly competition and camaraderie as part of the University’s 53rd Anniversary celebrations.

The day’s celebrations highlight MNU’s strong sense of community, providing opportunities for students, staff and alumni to come together beyond their usual academic and professional environments, celebrate the University’s achievements and strengthen connections across the MNU community.
