MNU Hosts Heads Workshop to Strengthen Leadership and Institutional Impact

The Maldives National University  successfully conducted its annual Heads Workshop today as part of its ongoing Professional Development Programme, bringing together Heads of departments and units for a focused and engaging day of learning, reflection, and collaboration.

Designed specifically to enhance leadership capacity and institutional effectiveness, the workshop featured four key sessions led by experienced academics and professionals from across the university.

The programme commenced with a session on Psychological First Aid, delivered by psychology lecturers Mariyam Ifshan and Afaa Mohamed, equipping participants with essential skills to support mental well-being within the university community. This was followed by Understanding and Preventing Harassment, facilitated by social work lecturers Mariyam Neerish and Zeenath Shakir, with support from Maishaa, emphasizing the importance of fostering a safe and respectful working environment.

The third session, Sustainability Competencies for Higher Education Leaders, was presented by Dr. Ibrahim and Dr. Shiyama, highlighting the role of leadership in advancing sustainable practices within higher education. The workshop concluded with a session on Strengthening Collaboration and Accountability, led by Aishath Shaheen, Dean of MNU Business School, focusing on building stronger institutional coordination and shared responsibility.

This annual initiative reflects MNU’s continued commitment to professional development, strengthening staff engagement, and enhancing collaboration across faculties and departments. By investing in leadership development, MNU aims to foster a more connected, responsive, and impactful university community.
