Centre for Foundation Studies Hosts Informative Session on “Antibiotic Resistance”

The Centre for Foundation Studies, Science Department, successfully organized an informative session on antibiotic resistance for Biology students, in collaboration with the Maldives Food and Drug Authority.

The session was conducted by Ms. Aishath Jaleela, Director of Pharmaceuticals at the Maldives Food and Drug Authority. She delivered an engaging and insightful presentation on antibiotic usage and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, highlighting its significance as a critical public health concern both locally and globally.

The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the responsible use of antibiotics, emphasizing the importance of preventing misuse and overuse, which contribute to the development of resistant microorganisms. Students gained valuable knowledge on how antibiotic resistance impacts healthcare systems and the role individuals can play in combating this issue.

The Centre for Foundation Studies expressed its appreciation for the collaboration with the Maldives Food and Drug Authority in facilitating this important educational initiative. Such sessions are part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to provide students with relevant, real-world knowledge that supports their academic and professional development.
