Thinadhoo City Hosts High-Level Forum on Cross-Sector Tourism Linkages THINADHOO CITY

Experts, community leaders, and local stakeholders gathered recently for the World Tourism Day Forum 2025, an event dedicated to exploring the future of sustainable tourism through collaborative efforts.

Held under the theme “Tourism Beyond Boundaries: Building Linkages Across Sectors,” the forum was organized by the Business Center Corporation (BCC) in a strategic collaboration with the Thinadhoo City Council, the Women’s Development Committee (GDh. Thinadhoo), and the Maldives National University (MNU) Thinadhoo Campus.

The event focused on fostering dialogue regarding sustainable tourism practices and the importance of integrating tourism with other economic and social sectors.

The forum featured two keynote addresses delivered by Mr. Hassan Waheed and Mr. Ahmed Ashraf, offering expert insights into the evolving landscape of regional tourism. These speeches set the stage for a high-level panel discussion moderated by Mr. Abdulla Sodiq.

The panel, featuring Mr. Nasrulla Ali, Mr. Hassan Waheed, Mr. Abdulla Shafiz, Mr. Ibrahim Assad, and Ms. Adhila Mohamed, engaged in a robust exchange of ideas. The discussion highlighted the necessity of cross-sector partnerships to drive economic growth and community development.

Organizers described the session as “engaging and inspiring,” noting that the forum sparked meaningful discussions that are expected to serve as a launchpad for future enriching conversations and initiatives in the region.
