Maeesh Mohamed

A Capable Graduate with Professional Excellence

Maeesh Mohamed is a capable graduate who earned his Bachelor of Accounting from the Maldives National University (MNU). A significant portion of Maeesh’s professional success can be attributed to the strong foundation provided by MNU in the field of accounting.
While pursuing his degree, Maeesh had the opportunity to gain practical experience in this field through Glatt Investment. Now, with 10 years of comprehensive experience, Maeesh is a responsible young professional who holds an Assistant Managerial position at MWSC.
In Maeesh’s view, MNU’s modern curriculum and practical approach to coursework adequately prepared him for real-world challenges.
MNU is where Maeesh developed his interest in accounting and financial reporting. The degree he obtained from MNU paved the way for further advancement in this field, particularly enabling him to pursue a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from UWE Bristol.
Additionally, Maeesh is committed to voluntary national service. In this regard, Maeesh and some of his childhood friends collaboratively run ‘Target’ Association, where he serves as one of the leaders. This association provides particularly valuable services to Maeesh’s native island, B. Thulhaadhoo.

Ismail Hafiz

Ismail Hafiz is a proud alumnus of the Maldives National University (MNU). He completed his first degree in Law from MNU.

Ismail’s academic accomplishments extended beyond the university as well. He was recognised among the top achievers in the Bar Examination of 2023.

Ismail’s professional journey began in government service, where he worked at the Drug Court and the Prosecutor General’s Office. These roles allowed him to develop valuable experience in the criminal justice system and strengthen his courtroom skills.

He later transitioned to the private sector, joining Praxis Law Firm, where he broadened his exposure to civil and commercial legal matters.

Ismail currently works at CTL Strategies LLP, where he assists in matters related to tax, legal regulations, and business.

Ismail’s dedication and competence form the foundation of his professional growth, built upon the knowledge he gained from MNU. His journey in the legal field reflects his commitment, integrity, and continuous pursuit of excellence.

Hassan Mohamed

An MNU graduate committed to strengthening administrative leadership.

Hassan Mohamed joined the Maldives National University in 2008 to to pursue a Diploma in Technology. However, Hassan graduated from the university having also earned a degree in this field.
The obstacles and challenges Hassan faced during his educational journey were weakened by his determination and courage. With the support of excellent university professors, loving family, and close friends, Hassan achieved his goal. He proudly acknowledges that their valuable assistance was the main pillar of his educational success.

After completing his studies and entering national service, gaining entry through the doors of the National University opened a golden opportunity for Hassan’s future. In Hassan’s view, by making the most of this opportunity, he is paving the way to achieve notable advancements in his career field.

Today, Hassan Mohamed serves as the Deputy Director of the Administrative Department at the University’s Faculty of Health Sciences.

Hassan has spent 10 years in national service providing valuable services to the university. Hassan stands out as a manager who works closely with his staff and as a good-natured employee who collaborates well with others. Under Hassan’s wise leadership, he is working hard to strengthen the administrative management of Health Sciences.

Fathimath Jaleela

An MNU graduate shaping the future of healthcare and nursing education.

Fathimath Jaleela is a graduate of the Maldives National University who continues to provide valuable services to the Maldivian health sector. This graduate, who entered national service after completing a Diploma in Nursing from the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2012, is a leader who has been providing invaluable services to the health sector.

During her university journey, Jaleela has completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree as well as a Master’s degree. Additionally, she is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education. These educational advancements have served as an important foundation that has opened up further opportunities in her professional field.

Professionally, Jaleela has worked as a staff nurse at ADK Hospital and as a Senior Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at IGMH. She currently holds the position of Lecturer at MNU’s School of Nursing.

Fathimath Jaleela’s journey represents a notable example among MNU graduates in nation-building and especially in advancing the health sector. Fathimath Sayana

Dedicated to advancing Dhivehi language education and supporting the university community.

Fathimath Sayana is a graduate of the Maldives National University who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dhivehi Language and a Master’s in Education specializing in Dhivehi language teaching.

These two Dhivehi degrees represent significant academic achievements that have equipped Sayana to contribute to the preservation of the nation’s linguistic heritage and the advancement of the educational sector.
An important part of Sayana’s journey of national service has been her work with the university.

In 2008, Sayana joined the MNU Thinadhoo Campus as an administrative officer. Her subsequent pursuit of higher education, though filled with challenges, was most notably characterized by her unwavering determination, patience, and perseverance. Additionally, her ability to collaborate with fellow students and achieve results is a remarkable quality. This provided additional encouragement to her peers in completing their courses.

Sayana’s success symbolizes her commitment to learning and personal development. She is results-oriented, giving special attention to each task and working diligently until completion.

Rashnan Mohamed Shihab

An MNU Computer Science graduate driving innovation for the Maldives.

Dr. Aminath Zahir stands as a remarkable figure in the academic landscape of the Maldives, becoming the first Maldivian to earn a Ph.D. in the Dhivehi language. Her achievement is a milestone that will be remembered in the history of Dhivehi studies and serves as powerful proof that the national language is capable of supporting rigorous, forward-looking research at the highest level.

Dr. Aminath Zahir’s educational journey began at the Institute of Teacher Education (ITE) in Malé, where she trained as a Primary Teacher. Her passion for the Dhivehi language guided her next steps, leading her to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Dhivehi) and later a Master’s in Dhivehi Language and Culture, both at The Maldives National University (MNU).

After a decade of service in the school system, she returned to MNU, where she now serves as a Senior Lecturer, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her commitment to Dhivehi studies culminated in her Ph.D. research, completed through MNU, which explored the development of the Dhivehi language from the lens of Applied Linguistics. The thesis, written entirely in Dhivehi, is a testament to her dedication and her determination to elevate the status of the national language in academic research.

Dr. Aminath Zahir continues to contribute profoundly to the fields of education, linguistics, and national heritage. Her research examines crucial aspects of Dhivehi vocabulary development, grammatical structures, and the challenges the language faces in an evolving social and technological context. Her work provides a foundation for progressive strategies that will shape the future of Dhivehi language development in the Maldives.
