Malé, Maldives – 1 October 2025 – The Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology of The Maldives National University (MNU) officially inaugurated the 2nd International Conference on Innovations in Engineering Science and Technology for Sustainable Development (ICEST 2025) today.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, Hon. Dr. Ali Haider Ahmed, who highlighted the importance of advancing research and innovation to address the challenges of sustainable development.
Held under the theme “Towards a Sustainable Future,” the conference seeks to promote research and knowledge exchange in the fields of engineering, science, and technology. It provides a platform for scholars, researchers, industry experts, and practitioners from around the world to share insights, discuss innovations, and explore solutions to global sustainability challenges.
This year’s conference features distinguished keynote speakers, including renowned professors and scholars from prestigious international universities. Over the course of two days, local and international participants—including academics, researchers, and students from diverse disciplines—will engage in discussions and presentations on a wide range of topics.
A total of 138 research papers were accepted for the conference, with 60 presentations scheduled across 16 parallel sessions. The sessions will run from 1–2 October 2025 at MNU’s main campus. ICEST 2025 marks a significant step in MNU’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development through knowledge creation and dissemination.
