MNU Marathon

The Maldives National University (MNU) Marathon, organized by the MNU, is an exhilarating one-day event scheduled to take place on 6 February 2026. This event aims to promote health, community spirit, and sportsmanship across all age groups through a series of exciting races.

The MNU Marathon is not just a race, but also a movement to promote a culture of healthy living among MNU community and the nation at large. Encouraging physical activity, such as walking and running, is essential for building healthy habits that lead to long-term well-being. For students and staff, balancing academic and work commitments with physical fitness enhances mental clarity, reduces stress, and improves productivity. As future leaders and contributors to society, it is crucial that we lead by example, fostering healthier lifestyles that extend beyond the university and inspire the entire nation to prioritise their health.

This initiative aligns directly with the MNU Fahi Sihhath program, a nationwide campaign led by the university to raise awareness about non-communicable diseases and to encourage healthier lifestyles across the Maldives. By linking the marathon to Fahi Sihhath, we reinforce our commitment to advancing public health and promoting wellness at both institutional and national levels.

The MNU Marathon marks a significant milestone in the university’s vision for internationalisation. As MNU aims to broaden its reach and establish stronger connections with the global academic and professional community, this marathon serves as a platform to unite participants from diverse backgrounds. It is a unique opportunity to introduce MNU to the international stage, attracting global attention and participation. By hosting an inclusive and international event, we are taking our first steps toward expanding our network, building collaborations, and showcasing MNU as a hub of excellence in both education and holistic development. This race is just the beginning of our journey towards a more globally connected MNU.
