Uza.Shara Mohamed Saeed is a licensed legal practitioner and a lecturer in law at the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law, Maldives National University (MNU). She brings a strong foundation in both legal practice and academic instruction, having accumulated significant experience across legal practice, employment law, and tribunal proceedings.
In addition to her academic role, Shara actively practices law under her own legal practice, Shara Mohamed Saeed, Attorney at Law, where she provides legal counsel and representation to clients. She currently teaches a range of undergraduate law courses at the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law, including Contract Law I, Land Law, Legal Ethics, General Principles of Law, and Maldivian Business Law.
She holds a Master of Laws and a bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah and Law with Honours. Her research interest lies primarily in employment law and the legal frameworks governing migrant workers, with a particular focus on labour rights, regulatory challenges, and the protection of vulnerable workers in small island developing states.
Shara has actively participated in and presented research at several national and international academic conferences, including the Theveli International Conference, the International Conference on Scientific Research and Innovation (ICSRI), and the Public Health Conference 2025. Through these engagements, she has contributed to interdisciplinary scholarly dialogue on issues of employment law, migrant worker rights, and public health policy.
Shara is also actively involved in academic governance and quality assurance at Maldives National University, having served on the Academic Review Committee. She currently serves on the Quality Assurance Committee. Through her teaching, active legal practice, research, conference participation, and institutional service, she remains committed to advancing legal education and contributing to the development of law and policy in the Maldives
