Mohamed Irshad is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Shari‘ah and Law at the Maldives National University (MNU). He specializes in Islamic theology, Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Islamic history, and Janā’iz (Islamic Funeral Rites), with a particular interest in relating classical Islamic scholarship to contemporary academic and social contexts.
He has extensive experience teaching and training students, professionals, and community members in Janā’iz (Islamic Funeral Rites), combining the theoretical foundations of Islamic jurisprudence with practical instruction on funeral preparation and burial rites in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah.
His teaching and research emphasize curriculum development, the integration of primary Islamic sources with critical analysis, and the use of interactive pedagogical approaches that promote analytical and reflective learning. Dedicated to student mentorship, he supports both intellectual growth and ethical development, contributing to the preparation of well-rounded graduates in Islamic Studies.
