Biography

Mr. Mohamed Nimal is an Assistant Lecturer and Head of Department of Rehabilitation Science at Faculty of Health Sciences, The Maldives National University. He holds a Bachelor of Health & Rehabilitation Science at Charles Sturt University, Australia. Currently, he is pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, The Maldives National University, Maldives.

Mr. Nimal has over 6 years of higher education teaching experience, primarily teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology subjects for Bachelor of Physiotherapy course. On top of his teaching work, Nimal works actively in the curriculum development and revision work and most recently  development of Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy Curriculum. He has worked in diverse roles at the faculty from batch coordination, committee representations and management level. Previously worked as Head of Department of Wellness, overseeing Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Psychology, Counselling and Social Work disciplines.

Mr Nimal has extensive experience working in the health sector, particularly with civil society organisations, Tiny Hearts of Maldives and Maldivian Red Crescent to promote health awareness and advocacy. He also worked as a co-facilitator and reviewer for the consultation work done to develop National Policy on Physical Activity and Guidelines for the Mal-dives, work done by Tiny Hearts of Maldives for Health Protection Agency and WHO Mal-dives (2019-2022).  He is also an Active Alumni member Maldives Australia Alumni Association and gives back to the community through community development projects.
