“JICA Chair Program (JICA Program for Japanese Studies)” offers an opportunity to study Japanese studies that explores Japan’s modernization and development cooperation experiences in light of its historical and cultural background. In collaboration with MNU and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for 2022, Professor Dr. Kazuo KURODA of Waseda University will be invited from Japan to provide a special lecture on Japan’s experiences in the development of education and its implications to be drawn for the Maldives. This special lecture is planned as a commemorative event for the 55th anniversary of Maldives and Japan.

Kazuo KURODA Professor and Dean of Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies, Waseda University. He also serves as Councilor of Asia Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO, as well as members of several advisory committees of the Japanese government ministries and agencies. He is also an editorial board member of several academic journals and publications, including the International Journal of Educational Development and Global Comparative Education (WCCES). He graduated from Waseda University (B.A.), Stanford University (M.A.) and Cornell University (Ph.D.).
